| Adam Internet fills Broadband Black Hole for St Marys | 21 Oct 2005 |
|---|---|
| After months of speculation and preparation, Adam Internet has finally achieved the ability to provide increased broadband access to residents connected to the St Mary's exchange via its “Next Generation” Broadband service.
“This has been one of our most challenging Exchanges” said Mr Greg Hicks, Chairman of Adam Internet. “I would imagine that many ISPs would have walked away from such a challenging build. This was by far our hardest Exchange to date but when you have done as many as my staff have done over the last couple of months, to coin a phrase “you get very good at it’.” Adam Internet has been the lead ISP in many Exchanges throughout Adelaide creating or enhancing the TEBA sites within Telstra Exchanges. “TEBA” is the location where other Telecommunication Carriers can place equipment to enhance the delivery of services to its customers. Many ISPs still purchase “Ports” from Telstra. Adam Internet’s move to this equipment will mean the freeing up of Telstra infrastructure. “In a general sense, we are adding to the communication capability of South Australia to benefit not only our customers but importantly other ISPs not able to readily afford such a build. It’s rather altruistic; we don’t just look after ourselves. Blackwood is the next Exchange in our sights and it will be active in the first week of November.” he said. St Mary’s Exchange has suffered from a lack of available broadband services, commonly known as “Ports”. Adam Internet has enabled twice as many ports than was originally planned due to this demand. Operations Manager, Carl Noutz hinted that Adam Internet now has a unique window of opportunity for the residents of St Marys “I don’t think another ISP will be in a position to offer ADSL2+ services to the whole of St Mary’s before 2006. It means that we can really make a difference providing relief to some ISPs still offering legacy ADSL plans in that exchange.” Adam Internets “Next Generation” broadband plans start from as little as $29.95 per month at speed up to 90 times faster than standard broadband at the same cost.
