Adam Talk Explained

  AdamTalk Explained

What Is AdamTalk?

AdamTalk is one of the newest and most cost effective ways to make telephone calls over the Internet. Using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology and regular broadband services, it's possible to significantly cut the cost of your regular phone bill.

How does AdamTalk work?

With AdamTalk, VoIP technology is used to transmit voice data across broadband Internet connections by converting the voice into digital packages. These packages are sent through the Internet to your chosen destination, before being converted back into its original format. The easiest comparison can be drawn between VoIP and emailing. Emailing takes your text, or words, before coding it digitally and sending it around the world.

VoIP uses a telephone number similar to that of your regular fixed home phone, so dialling and receiving calls appears the same to you as a regular call.

Can I get AdamTalk now?

You will be able to use this service providing you have an Adam Internet ADSL broadband account. Due to the bandwidth required by VoIP for clear communication, this service is not available for those on dial-up accounts. For existing dialup customers wishing to take advantage of AdamTalk, please contact the Adam Help Desk on 8423 4000 in order to determine your eligibility for an Adam ADSL service. A variety of different options are available to make use of AdamTalk technology in your own home;
